DRIVING / VEHICLES

STUDENT DRIVING

Students driving cars or motorcycles to school and desiring to park on campus are required to register their vehicles in the office and properly display a valid parking sticker. Only senior and junior students will be issued parking permits. Student vehicles are to be parked in the student parking area upon arrival at school. The faculty/visitor parking lots are off limits to student parking. Any special parking passes will be issued by an administrative designee. Students must have submitted and met standard on the VIP paper, which is part of the Viking Experience, in order to obtain a parking permit. All student vehicles must be registered in the office. Parking permits for the school year are $15.00. An administrator may authorize special situation passes in overflow parking areas. Student drivers will be assigned numbered and designated spaces with senior students given priority. Students with an off-campus pass transporting students without off-campus passes will be subject to disciplinary action. Only eligible juniors and seniors with written parental permission will be issued off campus privilege subject to revocation if this privilege is abused.

PARKING FINES

Parking illegally on campus is a violation.  Students may be subject to fines for parking violations.  Parking violations will result in a $10.00 fine.  Three or more violations may result in loss of parking privileges.  Excessive parking fines will result in disciplinary action.  Eligibility for parking and off campus privileges are based on good attendance and citizenship.  Poor attendance and poor citizenship can result in the following revocation of parking privileges and/or off campus pass

                1st offense: 30 days revocation

                2nd offense: semester revocation

                3rd offense: remainder of the year revocation

Continual parking violations will result in the vehicle being mechanically booted which results in a $25.00 fine  If it is necessary for a student to drive his/her car during the school day, prior parental permission must be secured and final permission must be obtained from the office prior to leaving.  Students are not to be in the student parking lot during class hours, between classes, or the lunch hours.  Students are not allowed to visit or loiter in the parking lot during the school day.  The gravel parking lot is under the same rules as the marked parking lot.  ALL PARKING LOTS ARE OFF LIMITS DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.  You are not to go to your vehicle during the day. 

TRAFFIC SAFETY EDUCATION

Students between the ages of 15 and 18 who reside in the Lake Stevens School District are eligible to enroll in the Traffic Safety Education Class.  Four (4) sessions are held during the year.  Notification of upcoming classes are posted in the school bulletin along with times and fees.  Applications are available in the business office and a mail-in registration is used. Payment for class is made at the time of enrollment.
