Principal's Perspective Newsletters & Messages

With second semester underway I wanted to take a moment and reflect on the start of the year. I have been overjoyed and proud of the effort I have witnessed firsthand from both students and teachers this school year. Viking Pride has been evident at sporting events, in the community, and in the high school. I am proud to report it is also evident in our staff meetings where we are preparing to introduce the new Common Core State Standards, improve our instruction through implementation of Charlotte Danielson’s Framework for Instruction, and increase our use of data to inform our instructional decisions. Our students have been busy, too! It has been very rewarding for us all to see our seniors receive scholarships to prestigious schools, finalize their post-high school plans and demonstrate beliefs and values that show their level of readiness for their next steps as community members. It has been impressive to see the leadership of our juniors and seniors as the healthy Viking culture shapes and influences our sophomore students. I was observing a class this week and the teacher explained to the students that the reason LSHS was so successful as a school was because the expectations were so high for the students and the students’ ability to rise up and meet those expectations. I agree with him. Please join me in maintaining and building this expectation of excellent and keep up that VIKING PRIDE! If you would like to contact me, please use my email or contact the main office @ (425) 335-1515. I am looking forward to hearing from you as always during the school year.

Sincerely,

Eric Cahan
