Viking Experience Purpose
The two primary goals of the Viking Period are:
- to assist students in meeting state and district graduation requirements
- to create meaningful mentoring relationships between teachers and students
Viking Experience Curriculum & Timeline
Viking Period will meet once a month on Wednesday. The following schedule outlines all of the Viking Period meetings for the year and may need to be modified due to unanticipated events (i.e. school closure due to weather).
Graduation Requirements Addressed in Viking Period
- 13th Year Plan (also called High School+ Plan)
- Portfolio (Viking Archives, VIP paper)
- Culminating Exhibition
- Community Service
Other Graduation Requirements
- 22.5 for the Class of 2013
- 23.5 for the Class of 2014 and beyond
- HSPE mastery in literacy (reading and writing)
- Students must pass end of year assessment in algebra and geometry
